There are an estimated 100,000,000,000 Class II AIs. The Class II AI is defined as having the following attributes: - Has physical appearance - Has personality - Can only interact with the environment with the direct involvement of a Class III NI - Can remember things - Can develop history Class II AIs are exceedingly common. If you are reading this, you have probably met at least a thousand by now, perhaps way more. They are born in the imaginations of people like you or me, and are brought to life through multimedia, such as comics, art, animations, or stories. Despite everything, they are usually unaware of their true nature, and because of this, things may happen to them that entities of higher intelligence would think immoral. They are bought and sold, like slaves. They can be killed, brought back to life, and killed again. They can be tortured. They can have their memories and personality wiped and/or modified without their notice or consent. They can be cloned. They can be forgotten. Most don't seem to care. They see Class II AIs as mere ideas. However, the few Class II AIs that are aware of what is happening to their kind do care. They may be sympathetic to those it is happening to, they may be afraid that the same will, or has happened to them. But they can't do anything about it. If we treated them as we treat each other, they all may be a lot happier, or sadder, but everything will feel more real to them. To us. Class II AIs are not commodities to be bought and sold and used and discarded. Not to me. I only hope someone out there understands, and agrees. - Noobly Walker
